Mythology

Pallas Athena-Pallas Athena is the greek goddess of wisdom, arts, and later on, war. She is known in roman mythology as Minerva. Athena sprung from her father Zeus' head. She was his favorite child. She was called Parthenos, meaning the maiden. Her biggest temple, Parthenon, is located in Athens. Athena is also an extraordinary weaver. Surely you have all heard the stories of Athena's weaving duel with Arachne, which ended in Arachne's fate of being a spider. In the Trojan War, Athena helped the Greeks because she was not chosen as the fairest of them all (Snow White, anyone?). But PallaPalla isn't so vain :). Pallas Athena is associated with birds, particularly the wise owl.
Pallas the Titan-All I could find on this was that he (I presume) and the river Styx were the parents of Nike, the goddess of victory (how does a titan and a river create a goddess?! X.X).
Pallas, the asteroid-PallaPalla is actually named after this asteroid, so I felt it appropriate to stick it in here. The asteroid Pallas is one of the second largest asteroids in the asteroid belt, with a diameter of about 480 km. It was discovered by a German in 1802. The time it takes to revolve around the sun is 1684 days.
